Just imagine how you feel when twenty other people have read whatever it is, and marked it up with their brilliant workshop comments.

It does thicken up your skin, though...

I used to hang out with folks in the Creative Writing program at the University of Arkansas; I know, at least second-hand, what it's like to watch fifteen jealous people grind yer baby's bones to make their bread; it's one reason I've steered away from such programs. :-)
